#1 Federer-Nadal final on the cards

With Murray and Djokovic out of the competition, there is a good chance that Nadal and Federer might reach the final

It’s been nearly six years when Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal last met in a Grand Slam final and two years since they last met in a Grand Slam match. Both Federer and Nadal had their respective World Tours hampered by injuries last year and both have returned to the sport this year after taking long injury breaks.

Both of them have reached the fourth round of the Australian Open with wins over tough opponents in the third round. While Federer had a cakewalk against 10th seed Tomas Berdych, Rafa won a gruelling five-setter against rising talent Alexander Zverev.

Federer and Nadal have been in good form at the Australian Open so far and haven’t shown any signs of slowing down. Both of them are in either half of the draw which means that their paths will not cross before the final.

With Murray and Djokovic out of the title race, this may be the best chance for a Federer-Nadal final to take place and given the kind of tennis both players have been playing so far, the chances are pretty good.

Zverev, on the other hand, is only 19 and has enormous talent and he will be expected to improve with time provided which, he would definitely become the World No.1 in a few years.
