Women's doubles partners Jessica Pegula and Ashlyn Krueger will face each other in the quarterfinals of the singles at the Adelaide International. The duo knocked out the top seeds Jelena Ostapenko and Su-Wei Hsieh in the doubles two days ago but they will be facing each other now in the last eight of the singles.

World No. 7 Pegula is the top seed at her first tournament of the season and knocked out the former World No. 3 Maria Sakkari 6-4, 6-1 in the second round.

The 30-year-old was ranked World No. 3 after reaching the final of the 2024 US Open in September but followed that with disappointing performances at the China Open and Wuhan Open before going winless at the WTA Finals in Riyadh. She would be hoping to go to the first Grand Slam of the year with some wins under her belt.

World No. 54 Ashlyn Krueger entered the qualifying round in Adelaide and won the first round against Ajla Tomljanovic before losing in the second qualifier to Katerina Siniakova.

She entered the main draw as the lucky loser and came back from one set down in the first round against Marta Kostyuk to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. In the second round, she ousted the fifth seed Paula Badosa 7-6, 6-7, 6-2.
