After a first-round bye, second seed Sebastian Korda will take on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the second round of the Adelaide International 2025.

Korda started 2024 with a semifinal showing in Adelaide, followed by a third-round appearance at the Australian Open. After a quarterfinal finish in Dubai in February, he didn't advance beyond that stage until June, when he made the final of the Libema Open.

He got back on track with a three-game run towards the end to clinch the set. The second set was more straightforward, and he broke his older rival's serve twice for a 7-5, 6-2 win.

Korda has dominated this match-up. He dropped only two games in his very first match against Davidovich Fokina in 2022 and lost three games when they crossed paths in Monte Carlo last year.
However, this will be Korda's first match since August 2024, and after his surgery as well. He was supposed to return to the tour in Brisbane last week but withdrew from the tournament at the last minute. Regardless of his health, he is going to be a little rusty.
