A day later, she shared highlights of her special day on Instagram, which included a picture with Alexander Shevchenko—a Russian-born Kazakhstani tennis player with a career-best ranking of No. 45. Potapova made their relationship public by adding a heart emoji.
Just days before confirming their relationship, she also shared a glimpse of their time together at the Miami Open.
May 2023: Potapova cheers on Shevchenko at the Madrid Open
A couple of months later, Anastasia Potapova appeared in Alexander Shevchenko’s box at the Madrid Open during his match against Daniil Medvedev. Reflecting on her partner’s defeat, Potapova said:

June 2023: Anastasia Potapova opens up about Alexander Shevchenko
Although Potapova and Shevchenko publicly acknowledged that they were dating only in March, the former confirmed in June that they had been together for six months. At the time, she also touched on how the duo juggles their personal and professional lives.
"We’ve been dating for six months," she said during the 2023 French Open, according to tennis.com.
"Obviously, I didn’t know how it was going to work because scheduling in tennis is never easy. But somehow, we’ve been able to manage it and in fact, it’s like we’ve spent every week together and we see each other a lot, which is a very good thing," she added.
September 2023: Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko announce engagement
Just months later, Alexander Shevchenko got down on one knee to propose to his lady love. The couple shared the news with their fans and followers on social media.
Earlier this year, Potapova shed light on the intimate proposal that took place in Germany.
"I’d come to see Sasha (Shevchenko) because he was in Germany, practicing for the tournament in Astana," she told tennis.com. "I thought I would just spend a few days with him, and so it was in the hotel room, with the ring under the pillow."
"It wasn’t something big, it was quiet and personal. That’s what I like about Sasha and me: we don’t like to be super social. He kept it quiet and I like that," she added.
December 2023: Alexander Shevchenko and Anastasia Potapova get married

December 2023: Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko resume preseason preparations
Newly-married Potapova and Shevchenko were quick to resume their preparations for the 2024 season. Soon after their exhibition appearance in St. Petersburg, the players flew to Dubai for an intense training block before the Australian Open.
"It wasn’t exactly a vacation!" Potapova told tennis.com. "We were practicing every day. But it was nice."
May 2024: The tennis couple take part in a romantic photoshoot
Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko were going strong in May this year. The pair were all smiles during the Italian Open, where they posed together on a Vespa for a classic “Roman Holiday” photoshoot.
September 2024: Potapova and Shevchenko unfollow each other on social media
Speculation was rife about the tennis couple’s possible separation in light of their social media silence. In September, fans also noticed that both players had supposedly unfollowed each other on social media and their pictures together had been taken down.
November 2024: Anastasia Potapova announces divorce
The Russian tennis player put the rumors to rest last month, confirming that she and Shevchenko had indeed decided to separate less than one year after their marriage. She addressed the situation on her Telegram channel (@anapotapovaaaa), saying:
"Hello everyone. This time I have not very positive news. Unfortunately, Alexander and I have decided to separate. That's life. People come together and separate. We would like to keep the reasons for the divorce to ourselves. I kindly ask you not to ask us unnecessary questions on this topic and respect our decision. All the best and love!
