The tournament is titled the Father Vincent Ferrer Memorial AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament 2016, with qualifying matches set to commence amidst celebrations of the birth anniversary of Father Vincent Ferrer, founder of Rural Development Trust (RDT) on the 9th of April 2016 and continue until the 10th.
The mandatory sign-ins for the competition will take place a day prior to this, and the main draws will be held between 11th and 15th of April 2016.
The competition will see both U16 Boys and Girls get down to the grind for the Super Series title on the clay courts of the NETS. About 125 athletes have already confirmed their participation and more will be expected to confirm upfront on the day of the sign-ins. Competition hosts will be fielding only three of their girls – NG Jyothsna, Yagnavi Bijari and D Pallavi in this tough competition.
Of them, Pallavi will be bearing the burden of many expectations stacked upon her shoulders, after her AITA CS Doubles win last year and the AITA TS U16 singles title win back in January this year. However she will have to dig deep and muscle her way through the qualifying stages to get to the main draws.
NETS is ready for the competition as it will welcome some of these highest ranked young Tennis talents from all over the country. It is the first time the Super Series is being hosted in Anantapur and people at NETS are excited to witness the spirit of tennis with some added flair.
Commenting on the competition, NETS co-ordinator Xisco Mercadal Pons shared that “This Super Series is going to be very competitive and we are expecting to witness some quality Tennis, we have submitted entries for Pallavi, Jyothsna and Yagnavi but we are only hoping that they get to play as much as they can during the course of this tournament, learn and enjoy playing amidst such vibrant and top notch quality of players”.
