Alycia Parks vs Greet Minnen preview
Alycia Parks will face off against Greet Minnen in the second round of the 2025 ASB Classic on Thursday, January 2.
Parks had an underwhelming season in 2024. Despite securing three titles at WTA 125 level tournaments, the American could not produce notable results on the main tour. Her best finish across Grand Slams came at the Australian Open, where she suffered a third-round defeat to Coco Gauff.
At the ASB Classic, Parks commenced her campaign with an impressive come-back win over third-seed Amanda Anisimova. Following a scramble in the first set, Parks turned up the intensity in the second set to win it after eight games. She then secured a couple of crucial breaks in the final set to win the match 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Similar to Parks, Minnen also struggled on the main tour last year. She was winless in her first five matches of the season. However, the Belgian had a decent run at the Qatar Open, where she secured three straight wins, including two qualifiers, to reach the second-round.
Minnen's first-round opponent at the ASB Classic was Anna-Lena Friedsam. The former was presented with numerous break point opportunities throughout the match and wrapped up the first set after ten games before claiming three break points in the second to win the match 6-4, 6-0.

Alycia Parks vs Greet Minnen prediction
Parks was deadly with her serves in her first round match against Anisimova. The American won nine aces throughout the match. Her aggressive playing style is best suited for hardcourts but she is not the most agile.
Minnen, on the other hand, has compartively sharper movements. She also usually takes on the role of the agressor. She was dominant throughout her opener against Friedsam and the Belgian will be keen to exploit Parks' minimal movements with her unpredictable drop shots.
Minnen could test Parks with her well-guided shots to some extend. However, it will be difficult for the Belgian to deal with Parks' strong serve and powerful overall play. Hence, the American is expected to come out on top in this fixture.
Pick: Parks to win in three sets.
