The 2025 ASB Classic is all set to have an All-American quarterfinal between Bernarda Pera and Robin Montgomery. 2024 was an underwhelming season for Pera as she struggled to reach the later stages of WTA-level events. However, the World No. 71 ended her season on a high with two consecutive quarterfinal appearances in Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

Pera's form in the latter half of 2024 has helped her to a good start in the new season at the ASB Classic. She registered a straight-set victory (6-2, 7-5) over Andorran qualifier Victoria Jimenez Katintseva in the first round. Pera secured a 7-6(2), 6-4 win over Rebecca Marino in the next round to book a third consecutive quarterfinal appearance.

Robin Montgomery had an average season for a 20-year-old. Her best performances included a couple of quarterfinal appearances at the Libema Open and the Citi Open.

At the 2025 ASB Classic, Montgomery has made a good start, winning her first-round match against Japanese lucky loser Mai Hontama, 6-3, 2-6, 6-0. She followed it up with another good performance in the second round, winning 6-2, 6-2 against Japanese qualifier Nao Hibino.
