Naomi Osaka is one win away from claiming her first title in three years at the ASB Classic. She defeated Alycia Parks in the semifinals in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Osaka entered Auckland on the back of a fourth-round exit in Beijing. She started her campaign by cruising past Lina Glushko and Julia Grabher in the first two rounds and then brushed aside Hailey Baptiste in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, Danish talent Clara Tauson will be giving her competition in the finals of the ASB Classic. The youngster looks to mean business this year with confident wins over Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys and Robin Montgomery this week. She eased past the American Montgomery in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-3.
The head-to-head between Osaka and Tauson is poised at 0-0. While Osaka is making her second appearance in the ASB Classic, Tauson is making her debut at the event.
Both players have dropped one set en route to the finals in Auckland. Considering their experience at the highest level, the Japanese will be a heavy favorite to come out on top. She's won 75% of her first serve points so far and also saved nine break points in her last match against Alycia Parks.
