We are entering the business end of the ongoing 2019 Australian Open as the quarter-final match-ups are decided and the clashes are set to get underway on day 9 of the tournament.
Day 9 will have over 60 matches taking place across all the courts at Melbourne Park and the action will get underway at 11 AM AEDT (5:30 AM IST).
There will be a total of four singles matches, two men's singles quarter-finals and two women's singles quarter-finals on day 9, while all the other matches will be competed among junior boys singles, junior girls singles and various doubles categories. Interestingly, all four quarter-final matches will be played on Rod Laver Arena.
The day 9 action on RLA will kick start with South Africa's Wayne Ferreira and Croatia's Goran Ivanisevic taking on Mansour Bahrami and local hero Mark Philippoussis in their Men's Legends Doubles second round match.
14th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, who slew Roger Federer in the fourth round, will face the 22nd seed Roberto Bautista Agut, who is on a good run of form of late and defeated the 2018 runner-up Marin Cilic in the previous round, in the first singles action on the court.
The last match of the day session will have two unseeded women, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Danielle Collins playing each other in the quarter-final.
Local hero and 15th seed Ashleigh Barty will get the night session underway on RLA as she takes on eighth seed Petra Kvitova in the second women's singles quarter-final. The final match of the night on the court will have second seed Rafael Nadal facing unseeded American Frances Tiafoe in his quarter-final clash.
India's Leander Paes will also be in action as he teams up with local favourite Samantha Stosur to face German-Colombian duo of Anna-Lena Groenefled and Robert Farah in the second round of the Mixed Doubles competition.
