After winning his first round match of the 2019 Australian Open against local wild card James Duckworth, world number 2 Rafael Nadal will be up against yet another Australian in his second round match.
With all the first round matches coming to an end, the action now shifts to the round of 64 as big names including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova and Marin Cilic will be playing their second match of the tournament on day 3.
Nadal, who last won the Australian Open in 2009, will face Aussie Matthew Ebden in a bid to reach the third round.
This match is scheduled to take place at the Rod Laver Arena and will be the last match on the court, i.e., the second match of the night session, right after the encounter between Angelique Kerber and Haddad Maia.
The 31-year-old Aussie international is ranked 48 in the world and has faced Nadal once in his career, in 2011 at Queen's, in which the Spaniard came out on top in straight sets. This clash might not be an easy one for Nadal as Ebden might give the former world number 1 a run for his money.
