Third seed Carlos Alcaraz will face 15th seed Jack Draper in the fourth round of the Australian Open. The winner of the match will face either seventh seed Novak Djokovic or 24th seed Jiri Lehecka in the quarterfinals of the Melbourne Major.

Alcaraz started his 2025 season with a fairly comprehensive 6-1, 7-5, 6-1 win over Alexander Shevchenko and followed this up by thrashing Yoshihito Nishioka 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 to book his place in the third round.

Here, the Spaniard faced Nuno Borges and cruised to a two-set lead. However, the Portuguese showed some resistance and took the third set via a tiebreak, but all it did was delay Alcaraz's win. The 21-year-old won the fourth set to register a 6-2, 6-4, 6-7(3), 6-2 victory.

Jack Draper's run at the Australian Open has been centered around surviving scares. The 23-year-old faced Mariano Navone in the opening round and triumphed 4-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Draper then faced Thanasi Kokkinakis in the second round and once again, found himself a set down after three sets. However, he prdoduced another comeback to register a 6-7(3), 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 win and reach the third round of the Australian Open for the first time in his career.

Here, the Brit faced local boy Aleksandar Vukic and started well by winning the opening set 6-4. The Aussie dominated the second set before taking the third 7-5, thus marking the third successive match where Draper was a set down after three sets.

The fourth set went to a tiebreak and the Brit won it to level the match and take it to a decider. The final set turned out to be a thrilling one, as both players broke each other once and saved multiple break points. Another tiebreak ensued and Draper edged out his opponent to register a 6-4, 2-6, 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(8) win and enter the second week of the Australian Open.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper prediction

Alcaraz will enter the match as the heavy favorite to win but Draper won their last encounter and is gradually establishing himself as a formidable competitor in world tennis, so he should not be written off.

The Spaniard has been impressive on his first serve so far at the Australian Open, winning 80.1% of points (121 out of 151) on it. He has a pretty strong serve that has fetched him 29 aces so far in Melbourne and will hope for more free points against Draper. The Spaniard has also produced 128 winners compared to 92 unforced errors.

Alcaraz's aggressive game, stamina and deceptive drop shots will no doubt be tough for Draper to cope up with. The Brit has a highly effective serve that has fetched 54 aces from his past three matches, 29 of them in his last fixture alone. Draper has won 215 out of 302 points (71.1%) so far on his first serve while hitting 193 winners and 163 unforced errors.

Draper loves to play aggressively from the baseline and hits his shots with a lot of power, something he also needs to keep in check as he is prone to unforced errors. The Brit has shown a lot of resilience in his last few matches, and will need to replicate that against Alcaraz if he is to stand a chance.

While Draper is someone who is not to be taken lightly, he has had several tedious encounters. Couple that with Alcaraz's current form, and there is a good chance of the 21-year-old reaching his second successive quarterfinal at the Australian Open.

Pick: Alcaraz to win in four sets.
