Sixth seed Casper Ruud will open his 2025 Australi an Open campaign against Spain's Jaume Munar in the first round on Sunday, January 12.

The Norwegian has won both of his matches in the 2025 season so far, both at the United Cup. The first one was a tough battle against the Czech Republic's Tomas Machac, which he won 7-6(6), 5-7, 6-4 after two hours and 55 minutes.
Ruud won his second match 7-5, 6-3 against World No. 18 Hubert Hurkacz, but still it was not enough for Norway to reach the knockout round.

The Spaniard started the 2025 season in Hong Kong, where he defeated his compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Nuno Borges, and second seed Lorenzo Musetti, before going down against Alexandre Muller in the semifinals.
