Iga Swiatek vs Katerina Siniakova preview
Iga Swiatek, who could become World No. 1 once again by winning the Australian Open 2025, will open her campaign against World No. 50 Katerina Siniakova on Monday, January 13.
The Pole has had a decent start to her 2025 season, helping Poland reach the final of the United Cup by winning her four singles matches against Norway's Malene Helgo, Czech Republic's Karolina Muchova, Great Britain's Katie Boulter, and Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina.
Her only loss at the event came in the final against World No. 3 Coco Gauff as she went down 4-6, 4-6.
Meanwhile, doubles specialist Siniakova played her first event of the 2025 season in Adelaide, where she qualified by beating Cristina Bucsa and Ashlyn Krueger.
She played the sixth seed Diana Shnaider in the first round and lost the first set 3-6, before bageling her opponent 6-0 in the second set. In the third set, she was then beaten 6-0 by Shnaider.

Iga Swiatek vs Katerina Siniakova prediction
23-year-old Iga Swiatek will start the match as favorite as she has not lost to any opponent ranked outside the top 45 of the WTA rankings since losing to Linda Noskova at the 2024 Australian Open.
The Pole has 6-0 record in the first round matches at the Australian Open and 22-1 record in the first round matches of all Grand Slams.
She has won 74% of her total matches at the Australian Open and her best result came in 2022, when she reached the semifinals and lost to Danielle Collins.
On the other hand, 28-year-old Siniakova has lost in the first round at the Australian Open eight times in 11 appearances. She has reached the second round three times, which is her best result at the first Grand Slam of the year.
The Czech doubles specialist has never beaten a top 10 opponent on the hardcourt Grand Slams in her career. Her only win against a top 10 opponent at a Grand Slam was against Naomi Osaka at the 2019 French Open, who was World No. 1 at that time, but clay is Osaka's least favorite surface.
Pick: Swiatek to win in straight sets
