Paula Badosa vs Marta Kostyuk preview
11th-seeded Paula Badosa will look to keep her Australian Open campaign alive as she takes on 17th-seeded Marta Kostyuk in the third round. Badosa did not have the best of starts to the 2025 season. The Spaniard lost to Elina Avanesyan in the second round of the Brisbane International, 3-6, 6-1, 2-6. At the Australian Open, the eleventh seed began her campaign with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over Xinyu Wang of China in the first round. She faced local favorite Talia Gibson in the next round. Being an Australian, Gibson had the support of the crowd, but Badosa blew her opponent away, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Paula Badosa vs Marta Kostyuk prediction
Before 2025, Badosa had a modest 6-5 record in Melbourne, with a fourth-round run in 2022 being the best result. Overall, the Spaniard has won three hard-court titles in her career, the last of which was at the 2024 Citi Open, where she defeated Marie Bouzkova 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in the final.
Marta Kostyuk has a 10-5 record at the Australian Open, coming into the 2025 edition. The Ukrainian had her best Grand Slam result in Melbourne when she reached the quarterfinal last year. However, the Ukrainian's only career title came on the hard court when she won the 2023 ATX Open with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Varvara Gracheva.
The only win for Kostyuk against Badosa came at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, where the Spaniard had to retire mid-match. Also, Badosa being the higher seed, the advantage will be firmly with her.
Pick- Badosa to win in straight sets.
