
Nicknamed as the Happy Slam, the Australian Open is first of the four Grand Slams that is played at at Melbourne Park in Australia. Played on outdoor hard courts since 1988, the tournament is primarily played on three courts, namely Rod Laver Arena, John Cain Arena and Margaret Court Arena. The tournament involves 128 players competing in singles, and 64 teams will participate in the doubles. Founded in 1905, the winner of the Australian Open will be awarded 2000 points in singles and doubles.
The prize pool for the 2025 Australian Open was A$96.5 million, which is nearly 12 per cent in 2024, with the individuals in singles winning the prize money of A$3,150,000. Jannik Sinner successfully defended his title in 2025 by registering a win over Alexander Zverev in the final. Madison Keys emerged as the winner in the women's singles category. The ten-time winner, Novak Djokovic, retired during the semifinal after suffering a muscle tear.
