Melbourne - Defending champion Victoria Azarenka advanced to the third round of the women’s singles at the Australian Open here Thursday with a straight-sets win over Greek Eleni Daniilidou.
The world No. 1 Belarussian lost just one game in the 6-1, 6-0 victory and will next play American Jamie Hampton, reports Xinhua.
Top-seeded Azarenka will possibly play former world No.1 Caroline Woziniacki in the quarterfinals as she defends her first Grand Slam title.
“I felt really good. I enjoyed a lot the way I was focused,” said Azarenka.
