Reigning Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova will face Anna Kalinskaya in the second round of the 2024 ecotrans Ladies Open on Wednesday.

Vondrousova was drawn against qualifier Rebeka Masarova in the first round. The Czech was the only one in trouble at the start of the match. She saved a couple of break points in the second game of the first set, and then another one in the sixth game.
Masarova paid the price for not capitalizing on her chances as Vondrousova bagged the last three games of the set to take it. The latter raced to a 4-1 lead in the second set but the former put up a fight by claiming the next two games.
However, Vondrousova didn't let Masarova back into the match and kept her at bay for a 6-4, 6-3 win. She extended her winning streak on grass to eight matches, dating back to her triumph at last year's Wimbledon.
Kalinskaya began her campaign in Berlin against qualifier Nao Hibino. The opening set slipped out of the Russian's hands as she lost it after getting broken twice.
Kalinskaya struck first in the second set to go up a break but Hibino fought back to level the score. The former broke the latter's serve once again and maintained her lead this time to take the set.
The Russian breezed through the third set as she surged to a 5-1 lead, and closed out the match soon after that for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 comeback win. It marked her first win on grass in two years.
