Serena Williams and Beyonce have maintained a positive relationship for quite some time. The tennis legend even made an appearance in the pop icon's music video 'Sorry' once and shared her feelings about the experience.
Beyonce's sixth album, 'Lemonade', was released in 2016, and 'Sorry' was one of the featured tracks. In the music video, Williams is depicted wandering around until she dances around Beyonce, who remains seated on a throne.

During a pre-tournament press conference at the Italian Open in the same year, eventual champion Serena Williams was asked about her appearance in the music video.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion revealed that the director of the video and Beyonce herself approached her, seeing her as an embodiment of "strength and courage."
"Well, it was a fun thing," Williams said. "I mean, I knew the director really well. In fact, I have known the director since I was like nine years old. I know Beyonce pretty well, so they were like, We would love for you to be in this particular song. You know, it's about strength and it's about courage and that's what we see you as."
Williams then shared the advice she received from the 'Crazy in Love' famed singer:
"She [Beyonce] told me that she just wants me to dance, like just be really free and just dance like nobody's looking and go all out. So that wasn't easy in the beginning, but then it got easier. And then, you know, we just did a few takes. It was really fun."
Serena Williams: "I think Beyonce's music is really bold, I was really happy to be a part of it"
In the same press conference, Serena Williams remarked that the song 'Sorry' was a pretty "strong" track on the 'Lemonade' album. While she didn't believe it solved societal issues, she acknowledged that it certainly addressed some.
"I thought that particular song on the visual album was really a strong song, and it was also really fun at the same time. You know, I don't know if it solved social issues or anything. That's definitely a lot, but I definitely think it addresses some," Williams said.
The American added:
"I think her [Beyonce's] music is really bold. In particular this album I think is really bold and really strong. I was really happy to be a part of it."
