The Indo-Pak duo of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi has reached their first ATP World Tour Masters double finals at the BNP Paribas Masters. They defeated the in-form third seeds Max Mirnyi and Daniel Nestor 6-3, 7-6(7) in 89 minutes.
The seventh seeded pair won the first set 6-3 and were leading 3-1 in the second. But Mirnyi-Nestor duo came back and won four games straight. The set went went into tie-breaker and at 6-4 Bopanna and Quresh had two match points. But Mirnyi and Nestor saved the match points and took a 7-6 lead to give them a set point. But the ‘Indo-Pak Express’ saved it and went on to win the match at 8-7.
Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi reached the quarter finals of this year’s French Open. While they were the runners up in the 2010 US Open. The duo has won three ATP Doubles title and in which two came this year at Germany and Sweden. But it’s their first entry into the finals of an ATP Masters event.
Bopanna and Qureshi will meet either French wild card Julien Benneteau and Nicolas Mahut or Santiago Gonzalez and Christopher Kas in Sunday’s final at Paris.
