Reilly Opelka vs Matteo Arnaldi preview
Reilly Opelka and Matteo Arnaldi will lock horns in the second round of the Brisbane International 2025.
Following a lengthy injury hiatus, Opelka embarked on his comeback last year. He had a 7-8 record in 2024, with a semifinal showing in Newport being his best result. He was drawn against Federico Agustin Gomez in his Brisbane opener. The American put his best foot forward, and a lone break of serve in each set helped him register a 7-5, 6-4 win.
Arnaldi had some solid results in 2024. He advanced to his maiden Masters 1000 semifinal at the Canadian Open and reached the fourth round of the French Open and the Miami Open. He also cracked the top 30 and peaked at No. 29 in the rankings.
Arnaldi was up against seventh seed and home favorite Alexei Popyrin in the first round of the Brisbane International. He proved too good for the Australian and secured a routine 6-3, 6-2 win over him.

Reilly Opelka vs Matteo Arnaldi prediction
Opelka is a former top-20 player but is still finding his bearings after an injury sidelined him for close to two years. He showed glimpses of his old form during his win over Agustin Gomez. He didn't face a single break point and won 93 percent of points on the back of his first serve.
Arnaldi came out firing on all cylinders against Popyrin in his opening-round duel. He went 3/3 on break points and saved the two break points that he faced with ease.
Opelka, currently ranked outside the top 200, has a 1-5 record against top 50 players since the start of his comeback last year. His only win came against an out-of-form Adrian Mannarino. Arnaldi, meanwhile, has a 14-1 record against players ranked outside the top 100 since the start of 2023.
Many new players have established themselves on the scene during Opelka's prolonged absence from the tour, and Arnaldi is one of them. The Italian will be ready to counter the American's big serve, and if his first-round performance is any indication, then he'll be poised to score another comfortable win.
Pick: Matteo Arnaldi to win in straight sets.
