Daria Kasatkina vs Amanda Anisimova preview
After a first-round bye, fifth seed Daria Kasatkina will square off against Amanda Anisimova in the second round of the Canadian Open 2024.
Kasatkina reached the final of the Adelaide International at the start of the season but lost to Jelena Ostapenko. Her time at the Australian Open was quite brief as she went out in the second round. She then advanced to her second final of the year at the Abu Dhabi Open but came up short against Elena Rybakina.
A fourth-round showing at the Indian Wells Open was Kasatkina's best result out of her next four tournaments. She reached her third final of the season at the Charleston Open at the onset of the clay swing, and was bested by Danielle Collins this time.
A fourth-round finish at the Madrid Open was the Russian's other best result on the red dirt, and she bowed out of the French Open in the second round. She finally captured her first title of the year at the Rothesay International in Eastbourne during the grass swing, and reached the third round of Wimbledon.
Kasatkina skipped the Olympics and instead participated in the Citi Open at Washington. She received a bye into the second round, and lost to Caroline Dolehide in three sets.
Anisimova took on Dolehide in the first round here. She cruised through the opening set and claimed it for the loss of only one game. The second set was more competitive but a lone break of serve in the 22-year-old's favor sealed the deal for her, and wrapped up a 6-1, 6-4 win.

Daria Kasatkina vs Amanda Anisimova prediction
Anisimova made it past Dolehide without getting broken even once. She saved all eight break points that she faced, and won 71 percent of her first serve points. It also marked her first win at the WTA 1000 level this year, and her first at the level since last year's Dubai Tennis Championships.
Kasatkina resumed the hardcourt swing with a loss to Dolehide in Washington last week, despite winning the first set quite comfortably. She will now face her nemesis Anisimova, against whom she has lost all three of her matches in straight sets.
Kasatkina has played quite well this year, winning one title and reaching three finals. However, she has also suffered a few early exits. Anisimova's big-hitting game doesn't allow her the time to weave her web to entrap her. The American is still finding her footing since making her comeback, so this could be the Russian's time to finally score a win in this match-up.
Pick: Daria Kasatkina to win in three sets.
