Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner: Who has the better Wimbledon draw?

Wimbledon gets underway on Monday, July 1 and the draw for the tournament has already been unveiled. French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz will be the third seed in the tournament and will defend his title.

His arch-rival and world No. 1, Jannik Sinner, will be gunning for his maiden title at the All England Club. Then there will be seven-time champion Novak Djokovic, who has recovered from a knee injury he sustained at French Open. Winning a record-equaling eighth Wimbledon title should be the target for the 37-year-old Serb.

Djokovic has a reasonably tough draw:

Djokovic will start his campaign against Vit Kopriva of Czechia, who is ranked 123rd in the world and is primarily a doubles player. In fact, Djokovic is not going to get a tough opponent until the fourth round, where he might come up against Holger Rune of Denmark.

Rune has had an indifferent last year or so, but could still prove to be a tricky opponent. Djokovic's job is likely to be quite difficult from the quarterfinal onwards, where he could face former Wimbledon semifinalist Hubert Hurkacz, who serves big and is a decent volleyer, too.

The Serb, who will be the second seed in this year's tournament, could then face Alexander Zverev of Germany, who finished runner-up at the 2024 French Open and has had a fine year so far. Still, grass is probably Zverev's weakest surface and Djokovic will fancy his chances against the German should the two meet in the semifinal.

Carlos Alcaraz seems to have gotten the easiest draw of the three:

Alcaraz and Sinner have been drawn in the same half of the draw and neither of them will face Djokovic before the final. The 21-year-old Spaniard will face Mark Lajal of Estonia, who came through qualifiers, in the first round. Alcaraz will probably face Aleksandar Vukic or Sebastian Ofner in the second round, and Frances Tiafoe of the United States in the third round.

He might face Ugo Humbert of France in the fourth round and then have either of Tommy Paul, Alexander Bublik, or Casper Ruud in the quarterfinal. Ruud is not a great player on grass, at least compared to other surfaces. Paul recently won the title at Queen's Club but has not done much at Grand Slams yet in his career. Bublik is also quite inconsistent in big tournaments.

Sinner, meanwhile, could be having some tough matches from the very beginning. He will square off against Yannick Hanfmann of Germany, who is a decent player on grass. He might then face Matteo Berrettini of Italy in the second round, who is a former runner-up at Wimbledon.

Sinner might have another potential banana skin in the third round in the form of Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands, who is also a dangerous player on grass with his big serve and groundstrokes. Sinner might then play Ben Shelton or Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round, with Shelton being another big-hitter.

The 22-year-old Italian could face Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the quarterfinal and then have a mouth-watering clash with Alcaraz in the semifinal. Hence, it is probably safe to say that Alcaraz has the best draw out of the three in this year's Wimbledon.
