The draw for the 2015 Aircel Chennai Open was announced on Saturday. The No. 1 seed and defending champion Stan Wawrinka is hoping for a good start to his season in Chennai. The Swiss went on to claim his first Grand Slam in Melbourne last year after winning the Chennai Open.
He gets a bye in the opening round. Wawrinka will face the winner of the match between Croatian Boran Coric and Robin Haase. Corin took out Rafael Nadal in Basel Indoors and could stretch the Swiss No. 2 in the second round.
Édouard Roger-Vasselin is also in top half of the draw and opens his campaign against Luxembourg's Gilles Muller. The best comeback player of 2014, David Goffin is likely to reach the last four with only Spaniard Marcel Granollers posing some threat to the Belgian if he faces him in the quarterfinals.
In the bottom half of the draw, No. 2 seed Feliciano Lopez could fave Slovakian Lucas Lacko in the second round. Both Somdev Devvarman and Ramkumar Ramanathan were offered wildcards for the tournament and will look to make the most of their opportunities in front of the home crowd. Ramanathan opens his campaign against Japan's Tatsuma Ito, while Devvarman plays Chinese Taipei's Yen-Hsun Lu in the first round.
The likes of Guillermo-Garcia Lopez, Roberto Bautista Agut, Alejandro Falla and Pablo Carreno Busta are also in the bottom half of the draw and can cause an upset or two in India's premier ATP event.
All in all, the southern city can expect some scintillating tennis over the next week by some of the world's best players.
