Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Nicolas Jarry preview
Etcheverry will take on Jarry in the final of the 2023 Chile Open in Santiago on Sunday (March 5).
The 76th-ranked Etcheverry has had a great week at the ATP 250 event, beating Fabio Fognini, second seed Francisco Cerundolo and Dusan Lajovic to reach the last four.
There, he downed third seed Sebastian Baez in straight sets to reach his first career singles final and improve to 7-5 on the season. Due to his exploits this week, the Argentinian will move up 16 places to a career-best ranking of 60. A title win will take him to the top 50.
Meanwhile, World No. 87 Jarry has had a fabulous Latin American Golden Swing campaign. After making the semifinals at the Rio Open last week, the Chilean beat Juan Pablo Varillas, fourth seed Diego Schwartzman and qualifier Jannik Hanfmann to reach the semifinals.
In the last four, Jarry recovered from a set down to beat Spaniard Jaume Munar.
In the process, he improved to 9-2 in 2023 and reached his first final (fourth overall) since 2019 Bastad, which he won.
Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Nicolas Jarry head-to-head
Etcheverry has a 1-0 H2H record against Jarry. Etcheverry won the pair's lone meeting in the Round of 32 at Cordoba last year, but considering Jarry's imperious form in 2023, it's difficult to look past the Chilean.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Nicolas Jarry prediction
Etcheverry and Jarry are both quintessential baseliners who tend to play their best tennis on claycourt. While the former will contest his first ATP final, Jarry will be playing in his fourth.
Both players have found form at the ATP 250 Chilean Open, but the pressure of playing his first ATP final could get to Etcheverry, who has been on song this week in Santiago.
Etcheverry's straight-sets win over Baez in the semifinals was impressive, while Jarry needed to go the distance against Munar. If the Chilean recovers enough from his longer last-four shift, he should emerge triumphant.
Pick: Jarry in three sets
