The Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia is currently the talk of the tennis world. The four-day event in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, is set to be the most lucrative event in tennis history. The winner of the Six Kings Slam will get $6 million as prize money, the most in any event in the history of tennis. The total prize money pool for the tournament is a whopping $13 Million.
Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune are all part of the marquee event. All the players are guaranteed to win $1.5 million for participation, which is almost as much as the winner's prize money at the Australian Open.
Compared to Grand Slam competitions, the prize money at the 'Six Kings Slam' exhibition match is exuberant. Jannik Sinner received $2.11 Million for winning the Australian Open in early 2024, however, the Italian is already set to earn more than that by reaching the final of the Six Kings Slam.
This year's French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz won $2.6 million for his success in Paris. The Spaniard won a further $3.51 million after defending his Wimbledon title at the SW19. However, the 21-year-old could earn almost as much as the combined prize money of both these Grand Slam wins, by winning the Six Kings Slam tournament.
The US Open has the biggest prize money pool among all the Grand Slam tournaments with the winner taking home $3.6 million in prize money. However, it is still way too less than the exhibition event in Saudi Arabia.
Jannik Sinner is in the final of the Six Kings Slam and a win would mean that the Italian would earn more money from three exhibition matches as compared to winning the Australian Open and the US Open titles in 2024.
Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune lost their first match at the Six Kings Slam but still made a handsome amount of money. Both made $1.5 million from playing one match in Saudi Arabia.
Medvedev only lasted on the court for 68 minutes and was brushed aside by Jannik Sinner but $1.5 million for his exertions. That equates to $21,739 per minute and $362 per second.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz to fight it out in the final of the Six Kings Slam
Jannik Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-final to book a place in the final of the Six Kings Slam. The Italian will face his rival Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Rafael Nadal in the other semi-final.
Both Sinner and Alcaraz came into the semi-final by winning their first match against Medvedev and Rune respectively. The young duo continued their good form by defeating the veterans Djokovic and Nadal to book a showdown clash in Riyadh.
Sinner needed three sets to get past Djokovic and won the match 6-2, 6-7, 6-4. Meanwhile, Alcaraz got past Nadal in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. Alcaraz and Sinner have won all four Grand Slams among them this season and would face off in the final of the Six Kings Slam with the winner set to win a record prize money of $6 million.
