Day 2 of the Cordoba Open will take place on Tuesday, with 10 players vying for spots in the second round of the tournament.
Federico Coria will lock horns with Thiago Monteiro while Cristian Garin will face Pedro Martinez. Daniel Elahi Galan will face Tomas Barrios Vera with Federico Delbonis taking on Alejandro Tabilo.
On that note, let's take a look at the predictions for Day 2's matches at the Cordoba Open.
Cordoba Open's top seed Cristian Garin vs Pedro Martinez
Cristian Garin will have a tough opening round at the Cordoba Open as he will be up against seventh seed Pedro Martinez.
The Chilean has a 3-1 head-to-head record against the Spaniard but recent performances make the latter the favorite to come out on top.
Garin has won only two out of 10 matches since reaching his maiden Grand Slam quarterfinal at Wimbledon. The 26-year-old's performances saw him drop below the Top 100 in the ATP rankings.
Martinez, meanwhile, started the 2023 season by reaching the quarterfinals of the Tata Open in Pune. He then lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the first round of the Australian Open.
Garin may have a comfortable lead in the head-to-head against Martinez but the latter should manage to the get the win given his recent form.
Predicted Winner: Pedro Martinez.
#2 Federico Coria vs Thiago Monteiro
Sixth seed Federico Coria will face Thiago Monteiro in the first round of the Cordoba Open. While Coria is the higher-ranked player, he has only played sporadically on the ATP Tour since last year's US Open.
The Argentine mostly competed on the ATP Challenger Tour and started the new season at the ASB Classic where he exited in the opening round.
Monteiro has played more on the ATP Tour in recent months compared to Coria but his performances have been far from impressive. He hasn't made it past the second round in any of his last 10 tournaments.
The two players will lock horns for the very first time and Coria should just about manage to edge out Monteiro.
Predicted Winner: Federico Coria.
#3 Federico Delbonis vs Alejandro Tabilo
Federico Delbonis and Alejandro Tabilo will lock horns for the very first time when they face each other in the opening round of the Cordoba Open. Delbonis had to go through the qualifying rounds to make it to the first round, while Tabilo didn't have to do so.
Neither player has been in the best of form but both play their best on clay courts. Delbonis is the higher-ranked and more experienced player, so he could get the win here and book his place in the second round.
Predicted Winner: Federico Delbonis.
#4 Daniel Elahi Galan vs Tomas Barrios Vera
Daniel Elahi Galan will face Tomas Barrios Vera in the first round of the Cordoba Open. Galan (83) will enter the match as the favorite to win as he is ranked considerably higher than Vera (212).
The Colombian has produced a few decent performances over the past six months, most notably defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas at the US Open. He is yet to win a match in 2023, however, and lost in the first round of the Australian Open.
Vera has made sporadic appearances on the ATP Tour and lost in the Australian Open qualifiers. The Chilean will no doubt find it very difficult to get past Galan, who is expected to come out on top without too much trouble.
Predicted Winner: Daniel Elahi Galan.
#5 Guido Pella vs Andrea Vavassori
Guido Pella will face Andrea Vavassori in the first round of the Cordoba Open. It will be the very first meeting between the two players.
Pella has fallen down the rankings and is currently 1018th in the world. He recently lost in the first round of the Australian Open. Vavassori, meanwhile, had a very good run in Naples last year and reached the semifinals of the Tennis Napoli Cup.
Both players possess styles modeled for clay-courts and Vavassori should be able to get the win considering his ranking.
Predicted winner: Andre Vavassori.
