Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys preview
Tenth seed Danielle Collins will face 19th seed Madison Keys in the third round of the Australian Open. The winner of the match will face either sixth seed Elena Rybakina or 32nd seed Dayana Yastremska in the fourth round of the Melbourne Major.
Collins started her run at the tournament with a 7-6(4), 6-3 win over Daria Snigur to set up a second-round clash against Australian qualifier Destanee Aiava. The 31-year-old won a tight opening set via a tiebreak but the 24-year-old bounced back to take the second and force the match into a qualifier.
Collins fought off Aiava and a hostile crowd to eventually take the match 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2 and reach the third round of the Australian Open.
Madison Keys entered the Melbourne Major following an impressive title run at the Adelaide International. The American faced compatriot Ann Li in the first round and triumphed 6-4, 7-5.
She then faced Romanian qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the second round and edged out the first set via a tiebreak. The latter, however, dominated the second set and took it 6-2 to force the match into a third. The final set was tightly contested, but Keys managed to win it to register a narrow 7-6(1), 2-6, 7-5 win, and a place in the third round of the Melbourne Major.
Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys head-to-head

Danielle Collins vs Madison Keys prediction
While Collins is the higher-ranked player, Keys has looked in terrific form at the start of the 2025 season, and may have an edge entering the match.
Danielle Collins has an effective serve and has served 13 aces so far at the Australian Open. However, she has also served 15 double-faults and will have to be careful not to have too many of those.
Keys' ace count so far at the Melbourne Major is less compared to that of her compatriot, but she did fetch six of those in her first-round match, so she is capable of producing a high number of them.
Both players are among the hardest hitters on the WTA Tour and they will look to be on the front foot from the start of the match. That said, Collins will be targeted by the crowd after all the drama following her win over Aiava. Keys is a highly toughter opponent than Aiava, and there is a good chance of her triumphing.
Pick: Keys to win in three sets.
