Spanish tennis player David Ferrer on Tuesday declared that he will not participate in the Monte Carlo Masters which started on Monday, because of a calf injury.
The Spaniard announced on Tuesday on his Twitter account that he will not participate in this tournament due to injury, reports Efe.
The third ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournament of the season began on Monday and will last until April 17.
Ferrer, replaced in the main draw by compatriot Marcel Granollers, was due to face German Alexander Zverev.
With this, the world No.8 will miss a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time this season and it is this tournament where he has been successful throughout his career.
His best results were in 2011 when he reached the final but lost to Rafael Nadal 6-4, 7-5.
