Davis Cup Finals 2019, Day 6: Semifinals schedule, venue and everything you need to know 

It has been a dramatic week at the Caja Magica Stadium where the 108th edition of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals is being played. Introduced in a revamped one-week format, the Davis Cup has gifted us intense tennis actions with shock defeats and surprise wins being the order of every day.

Onto the sixth day of the multi-nation tournament, we will have the semi-finals today with the top four countries- Russia, Canada, host country Spain and Great Britain vying for the title.

Russia caused the first upset when they crushed the Novak Djokovic-led Serbia's hopes in a tight quarter-final clash to finally secure their place for the semis. The match proved to be a nail-biting encounter, with Andy Rublev being ruthless in the first match against Filip Krajinovic.

The Russian got his way easily there before Djokovic leveled matters for Serbia with a comprehensive win over Karen Khachanov, the budding player from Russia. Things went south during the doubles match when Djokovic, nursing an elbow injury failed to support Victor Troicki and could not save the match points. The duo of Khachanov/Rublev celebrated as Russia entered the semi-finals nearly after a decade.

Due to play with first-time semi-finalists Team Canada, who are on a brilliant run this time, Russia will have to put their best foot forward. Oddly, this tie will have four players who are inside the World's Top 23 and are also under 23 years of age.

In the other semi-final, it was Rafael Nadal who championed Spain's cause to stay alive in the tournament for one more day. Spain haven't been particularly impressive this season, but Nadal and co. turned up the heat on the court in their tie against Argentina.

The highlight was once again the deciding doubles match which Spain brilliantly secured to set up a date with Great Britain. With Andy Murray missing in action, the young guns like Dan Evans and Kyle Edmund have been responsible for taking Britain to the finals.

Besides, the host country Spain's team is in fiery form and might just be too hot to handle for the Brits.
