24-year-old Dayana Yastremska is a professional tennis player who is ranked No. 33 in singles by the WTA as of January 2025. She grabbed headlines after defeating the likes of Victoria Azarenka and Marketa Vondrousova at the 2024 Australian Open, reaching her first major semifinals in the process.

Born on May 15, 2000, Yastremska started playing tennis at the age of five, and trained at the Koza WOS International Tennis Academy in Istanbul as a junior. She turned professional in 2015 and played her first WTA tour main draw match at the Istanbul Cup in 2016.

Dayana Yastremska broke into the WTA top-100 in 2018 and made her Grand Slam debut at the 2018 US Open, where she lost to Karolína Muchova in the first round. In October 2018, she won her first WTA singles title at the Hong Kong Open, where she defeated Wang Qiang in the final.

As of January 2025, Yastremska had won three WTA singles titles in her career, including the 2019 Hua Hin and the 2019 Strasbourg Open. At the start of the 2025 season she advance to the quarterfinals of the Hobart International by defeating Ann Li and Katie Volynets en route. However, she lost to eventual champion McCartney Kessler in the final by 7-5, 6-4.

Dayana Yastremska is a Ukrainian national. She was born to Marina and Oleksander Yastremskyi on May 15, 2000, in Odesa, Ukraine. Her grandfather Ivan introduced her to tennis when she was five years old. However, she was also interested in gymnastics and swimming as a kid. In an interview, Yastremska said: "I chose tennis because it is very hard and beautiful. I love work and I want to write my new history in tennis."

Yastremska represents her country in many international tournaments, including the Fed Cup. She made her Fed Cup debut for Ukraine in 2019.
