The 25-year old Bulgarian sensation, Grigor Dimitrov surely knows how to make his way into teeny-tiny hearts and make space for himself there. Just like her won Maria Sharapova’s heart, similarly during his second-round clash in the Shanghai Rolex Masters with Vasek Pospisil, he made sure to win the heart of the audience present there.

Dimitrov played a strong game but faltered to Pospisil 7-5, 7-6(2). The heart-warming moment arrived during the second set when Pospisil was serving at 5-5. Pospisil was at 40 while Dimitrov was a point away at 30, on the receiving end.

The service was powerful and wasn’t inside the court, instead the ball bounced once and hit the little ball boy standing to one corner behind Dimitrov. The poor kid was at a loss at how to behave as the ball had hit him quite hard and he started crying.

Just as Pospisil was getting ready to serve for another time, he saw that Dmitrov had walked off to comfort the boy. Bending a down a little to reach the injured boy’s level, he patted his head and the boy started crying all the more as the ball had hit him quite sharply on the chest.

To calm down the crying and helpless boy, Dmitrov took off his pink wristband and handed it over to him followed by a few more pacifying pats. The most succesful Bulgarian tennis star, surely has a heart of gold to reach out and help the boy in his time of helplessness. Altough Dmitrov lost the match after putting up quite a strong fight, he made sure that people had his name on their lips when they left the court, because of the small gesture of kindness that he extended to the injured ball boy.

It is really a pleasure to see that high-profile players have such a side to them. Howsoever great may he be as a star, he clearly overlooked his stardom and reached out to the boy and helped him. He might not have aced the match with his game play, but he surely aced and melted that little boy’s heart and definitely ours, too.
