Novak Djokovic enjoyed his time on the court with a fan

Francesco Nguyen, winner of Head’s ‘Upgrade your game’ contest got an opportunity that countless Novak Djokovic fans can only dream of. Not only did Nguyen get to meet his idol, he was also afforded a chance to play against Djokovic at Indian Wells in California.

Ever the genial sport, Djokovic played a game with Nguyen in which the player who dropped a point had to do push-ups. Both Djokovic and Nguyen were in a humourous mood as they exchanged banter across the net. After Nguyen dropped a point and duly got down to the ground to do push-ups, Djokovic suggested that they discard the racquets and play. Upon losing the point, Djokovic lost no time in throwing himself on the court to pay the penalty.

Nguyen even went on to surprise Djokovic with a well-placed lob that had Djokovic hurrying back to the baseline to retrieve the ball. As Djokovic went on to sign his tennis balls, a visibly delighted Nguyen gushed, “I will never forget this”.

“He (Djokovic) could have easily beaten me. But, he was very nice”, said an overawed Nguyen.
