Sixth seed Daria Kasatkina will face 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Rothesay International.

Kasatkina beat Wang Xinyu 6-4, 6-2 in the first round and then faced another player from China, Yuan Yue, in the second round. The Russian fell behind 4-0 in the opening set, a deficit which proved to be too much for her to make up, and thus lost the set.
Kasatkina squandered her lead twice in the second set and got broken while serving for the set as well. However, she broke Yuan's serve in the final game of the set to take it. She ran away with the match after that as she didn't lose a single game in the decider to complete a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 comeback win.
Raducanu scored a 6-4, 6-0 win over Sloane Stephens to set up a second-round showdown against World No. 5 Jessica Pegula. The Brit rallied from 4-1 down in the first set to even the score but dropped the next couple of games to lose the set.
Raducanu overcame an early break deficit in the second set to remain hot on Pegula's trail. The former had a set point on the latter's serve at 5-4 but couldn't close it out at that juncture. The set eventually went to a tie-break, in which the Brit saved a match point to snatch the set from her opponent.
Raducanu was on the cusp of victory in the third set but started to unravel. She led 5-2 but failed to close out the match as Pegula managed to level the proceedings. The Brit snagged another break to go 6-5 up and saved four break points in the following game to wrap up a 4-6, 7-6 (8), 7-5 victory.

Raducanu almost lost the plot against Pegula in the end but regrouped in the nick of time to score her first win over a top-10 player. The Brit's shotmaking saw her hit 30 winners, though she also threw in nine double faults, which put her in a tough spot at times.
Kasatkina staged her comeback in the previous round, though she decisively concluded the match. A runner-up in Eastbourne last year, she will be keen to go all the way this time.
Kasatkina had no trouble dealing with Raducanu the only time they crossed paths two years ago. However, the latter is quite at home on grass and has improved her gameplay by a fair margin in the meantime.
The Russian is also trying to mix things up these days and attempts to play more aggressively than usual. She remains an excellent returner even now. However, Raducanu is in pretty good form at the moment and already made a semifinal on grass a couple of weeks ago. Given how she toughed it out against Pegula, she has it in her to score another big win.
