Marcos Giron vs Yoshihito Nishioka preview
Marcos Giron is set to take on Yoshihito Nishioka in the second round of the 2024 Rothesay International on Wednesday, June 26.
Giron kicked off his campaign in Eastbourne against fifth seed Francisco Cerundolo in the opening round. A rock-solid opening set on serve from both players saw them take it to a tie-breaker. The American turned it up a notch from the back of the court and eventually sealed the set with a dismissive overhead smash.
The pair were on target on serve once again and forced another tie-breaker. Giron's incredible hustle from the back of the court and some blistering forehands ensured he sealed a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) victory.
Nishioka, on the contrary, opened his campaign in the qualifiers with a routine 6-3, 6-3 victory against Arthur Fery. Up against second-seed Aleksandar Vukic in the second round, he sealed another straight set victory.
Nishioka carried that momentum into his opener against home favorite Liam Broady, sealing another convincing 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Marcos Giron vs Yoshihito Nishioka prediction
A blockbuster second-round clash is on the cards for fans in Eastbourne as Marcos Giron and Yoshihito Nishioka prepare to fight it out for a spot in the quarterfinals.
Giron enters the clash on the back of some great form on the grass this year. He has four wins in the six matches he has played so far on the surface and has looked to be getting better with every match played. He's displayed a wide array of skills, but his hustle and play from the back of the court must be highlighted. He likes hitting a heavy ball and continues to trouble opponents with that weapon.
Nishioka has been brilliant all week too and is yet to drop a set. His unconventional play from the back has been tricky to handle and his net play has been incredible. He's been meager on the unforced errors column as well and has successfully been able to dictate play from the back of the court.
While we can expect a tight match between the pair, Giron should come out on top given his current form. Nishioka will have to be excellent on serve and create early inroads on the return if he is to have a chance of coming out on top.
Pick: Giron in three sets.
