Emma Navarro, the WTA tennis professional, was born on May 18, 2001. She turned professional in 2015 but maintained her junior eligibility. It was after June 2022 that she pursued a full-time professional career, according to the Virginia Cavaliers. As of January 2025, she is the WTA world No. 8, her career-high singles ranking, achieved in September 2024. Her best Grand Slam performance was at the 2024 US Open, where she made it to the semifinals but lost to Aryna Sabalenka.

In January 2024, Navarro won her first WTA singles title, the Hobart International, defeating Elise Mertens 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. The same year, she won the WTA Most Improved Player of the Year award. In the ITF circuit, Navarro won seven singles titles, including the ITF Charleston Pros (April and November 2023) and the Christus Health Pro Challenge (Tyler Pro Challenge) in October 2023.

In an interview with the Charleston Day School in 2019, Navarro stated that she had been following a strict tennis training routine since fourth grade, which includes early morning workouts, on-court practice, and school hours.

When asked about her years of preparation and hard work, she stated, "Year by year I started devoting more and more of my time to tennis. Although I have had to make certain sacrifices, and it’s taken many years of hard work and dedication, I wouldn’t take back any of it."
