Roger Federer clearly seemed to be in a hurry and had no intention to keep the Center Court hooked to their seats to witness another classic encounter after the first two matches went down to the wire.
Roger Federer won the first game to love with barely 60 seconds elapsed on the clock and raced to a 1-0 lead in the match in just 25 minutes following a double break of serve. The second set commenced with a break of serve in the opening game and the same pattern was repeated in the third set too. Roger secured his place in the third round, dispatching his opponent 6-2,6-3,6-2.

The Basel native served impeccably throughout the match hammering a whopping 11 aces and it was not until the 24th point that the Frenchman was able to win a point on Federer’s serve. He hit 38 winners and committed just 10 unforced errors in his 88 minute rout of the Frenchman, Adrian Mannarino. But there were flashes of brilliance from the Frenchman’s racket, too and all credit to him for managing to create three break point opportunities for himself while Roger was serving for a 2-0 lead over him. Despite a brief lapse of concentration, Federer regrouped well enough and the third set was a formality.
Federer’s win sets up a mouth-watering third round clash between the old foes, Roger Federer and the Argentine’s David Nalbandian. Though the head to head record is 10-8 in favour of the Swiss, it will be their first grass-court encounter.
