David Ferrer celebrates his win over Marin Cilic in the fourth round

Spanish tennis player David Ferrer qualified for the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, the season's second Grand Slam tournament, after eliminating Marin Cilic of Croatia in the fourth round.

Ferrer, ranked 8th in the world, defeated Cilic 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 in one hour and 50 minutes on Monday.

Last year, Ferrer was eliminated from the quarter-finals in Paris against his compatriot Rafael Nadal, who ended up winning the tournament for the ninth time in his career.

Ferrer will be playing in the quarter-finals against Scotland's Andy Murray, who defeated Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Ferrer's upcoming clash against Murray will mark his seventh quarter-final match in the French Open, making him the second best Spanish player on clay after Rafa.
