Serbian world no.1 Novak Djokovic rallied back from a one set deficit to battle his way past Philipp Kohlschreiber into the French Open quarterfinals.
Playing his first match since learning of the death of his childhood coach, Jelena Gencic, on Saturday, Djokovic dropped his first set this year at Roland Garros as the 16th seeded Kohlschreiber took the first set, 6-4. However, the Serb then pushed back aggressively, with fist pumps galore as he took the second set 6-3 and then the third and fourth sets with identical 6-4 margins.
Djokovic faced 13 break points but overcame his serving problems as he saved 11 of them.
With this win, Djokovic reaches his 16th consecutive Grand Slam quarter final where he will face the 35-year-old Tommy Haas, who needed less than 90 minutes to sail past Mikhail Youzhny 6-1, 6-1, 6-3.
