The only claycourt Grand Slam, the French Open is currently underway at the Stade de Roland-Garros in Paris, France. Roger Federer withdrew from the Open with his back injury still not having healed, while 9-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal retired from the tournament with a serious wrist injury following multiple straight sets victories and strong form.
Top seed Novak Djokovic has seen a number of his biggest opponents ousted or weakened at the Open. With Nadal out of the tournament, Djokovic’s only real competition appears to be Andy Murray, who has struggled against much lower-ranked competitors at the tournament, and a strong-looking Kei Nishikori, who almost defeated Djokovic at the semi-finals of the Italian Open earlier this month.
