Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor: Preview

Alexander Zverev is in very good form at the moment, and hence, it is no surprise that he has yet to drop a set in the tournament. He got the better of an all-time great like Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3 in the first round and then brushed aside David Goffin 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-2, in the second. As such, the Italian Open champion remains one of the strongest contenders to win the title at Roland Garros.

On the other hand, Griekspoor beat Mackenzie McDonald 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in his first match and then prevailed over Luciano Darderi 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-3 in his next match. The Dutchman has looked solid so far and remains a decent player on clay, despite it not being his preferred surface.

Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor: Head-to-head

The two players have played each other four times, with Zverev winning three of them. He thus leads their head-to-head 3-1. However, they have not clashed on clay yet.

Alexander Zverev vs Tallon Griekspoor: Prediction

To be very honest, it is difficult to look beyond Zverev in this match-up. The German is in fine touch and will take some stopping. Unless he comes up against a Novak Djokovic or a Carlos Alcaraz, he will start as the favorite on the basis of current form.

Griekspoor has a very good serve and fired 15 aces against Darderi in their second-round match. However, Zverev is himself a big server and has consistently won more than 70% of the points on his first serve. As he is unlikely to be broken frequently, he will not require many serve breaks against Griekspoor to maintain his lead.

The German's backhand is among the best in the business and his forehand is a much-improved shot, too. In addition, his volleying skills also came to the fore against Nadal. Not to mention that he usually hits the ball with ferocious power. All of this should be too much to handle for the talented Griekspoor.

Pick: Alexander Zverev to win in four sets.
