The King of clay court Rafael Nadal proved he is still the toughest customer on clay court and the player to defeat. He won the French Open title today by defeating Robin Soderling with a 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 margin. With this win he also dislodged Roger Federer from the No.1 spot.A sweet revenge for Nadal indeed ! 12 months ago, Soderling ended the Spaniard’s 31-match, four consecutive titles winning streak in Paris in a stunning fashion with a four sets, fourth round triumph. This is the fifth French Open title for Rafael Nadal who is just one behind the great Bjorn Borg in having maximum French Open crowns. Solderling started with confidence but Nadal proved to be too strong for him. Nadal’s first serve was excellent all through the match as was his power play from the base line.
Good show Nadal…. THE KING OF CLAY and the new World Number 1. Can Nadal carry over this form to Wimbledon now ? What do you folks think ?
