French Open - Maria Sharapova, the glamor babe progresses to second round

Maria Sharapova of Russia comfortably won her Round 1 match of French Open 2010 held at Roland Garros in Paris. Sharapova crushed her countrymate Ksenia Pervak 6-3, 6-2.

Maria Sharapova was not even troubled by scattered rain on Suzanne Lenglen Court, the former number one ranked WTA player, seeded as 12 in this French Open had her serve broken in the beginning of the first set before she turned on her awesome range of shots

Pervak, who is a teenaged qualifier was participating in her first major match, a fact which reflected in her tentative play, as the more experienced Maria Sharapova won easily.

Sharapova would be looking to add a French Open championship victory to her trophy cabinet. French Open is the only Grand Slam which she has not won till now.

Last week after returning from shoulder injury Sharapova had won her comeback tournament at Stasbourg. She will be keen to carry that form forward in the French Open. Maria Sharapova had reached the semi final at Roland Garros in 2007 which is her strongest performance at the French Open till now. Sharapova will certainly be looking to better that performance this year although she is ranked 12 in the world currently. But, there is no doubting the class of Maria Sharapova !
