Andy Murray completed one of the sterling fights of his fledgling career after having his back to the wall to reach the second round of the French Open late on Monday. Andy Murray came back from being down by two sets to defeat the crowd favourite Richard Gasquet 4-6, 6-7 (5-7) 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 in a match full of dramatic and pulsating twists and turns.
Gasquet started on a promising note to take the first 2 sets but eventually Andy Murray got the better of a tired Gasquet in the third set. In the final 2 sets Andy Murray was too good for a tired and vanquished looking Gasquet. But, this 5 set match played by Andy Murray will serve a notice to British Tennis fans as well as the Andy Murray fans worldwide who are hoping for Murray to win the French Open. With tougher competition to follow in the French Open, Andy Murray needs to up his game significantly to have a chance of winning the French Open.
