The first-round action wound up at the Australian Open, with big stars like Emma Raducanu and Taylor Fritz in action. With all openers now done and dusted, all official looks for the season's first Slam have also been debuted.
And much like the opening two days of the tournament, there were many hits and misses when it came to the fashion choices.
Here, we take a look back at some of the best and worst looks donned by the tennis stars in action during Day 3 of the 2025 Australian Open:
#5 Worst: Taylor Fritz
Taylor Fritz ended his association with Nike last year after signing a deal with Hugo Boss. He has been one of the main faces of the brand, which is among the newer entrants in the tennis market. The American's Australian Open outfit, however, is unlikely to help the brand win over too many new customers.
The brand has chosen not to depart too much from their traditional solid contrasting top and bottoms, handing its players a deep purple T-shirt and black shorts for the season's opening Slam.
The outfit may have had some appeal under the lights but is an eyesore when players are out in the bright Australian sunshine. The fabric gives off a cheap glint and the contrast with the blue Melbourne courts is also off. One can only hope for Fritz and his likes to get some evening matches in the upcoming days.
#4 Worst: Elena Rybakina
Elena Rybakina is another big name who has recently jumped ships when it comes to sponsors in recent times. Once an Adidas favorite, the Wimbledon champ is now sponsored by Yonex.
Yonex is a brand best known for sticking to the tennis classics featuring polo necks and clean lines. This time though, they have experimented with a few different patterns for the Australian Open. Not all of it, however, seems to be working out.
The red dress featuring geometric prints in different shades of the color comes across as unimaginative and more workmanlike. The square neckline is another questionable choice.
The dress' simple silhouette does accentuate Rybakina's slender frame but the poor choice of patterns is too unforgiving to let this pass off as a win.
#3 Best: Rinky Hijikata
Carlos Alcaraz has gone out and made the tank top really his own over the last couple of years. He has followed in the footsteps of Rafael Nadal, who once was synonymous with the tennis tank. Another player quietly making an impression with the same fashion choice is Rinky Hijikata.
The Aussie has been rocking the Fila tank for quite some time now and his Australian Open kit is particularly cracking. The deep blue is an instant hit when viewed in contrast with the lighter shade of the courts Down Under, while his shorts are just the right mix of lime and neon.
A lot of the brands seem to have gotten the yellow/neon combination wrong at this year's Australian Open (Aryna Sabalenka's Nike outfit for starters) but Fila has found the perfect shade that stands out against the court without becoming too much of a distraction.
As for Hijikata, the matching Fila cap is the perfect accessory. The only complaint would be the wristbands not being the same shade as the shorts, but that's just nitpicking.
#2 Worst: Emma Raducanu
Nike has drawn a lot of flak for dressing Aryna Sabalenka up in tennis ball yellow, so one wouldn't blame a player for looking away from its two other central dress choices. Emma Raducanu has done just that but the outcome still falls flat.
The Briton, who opened her campaign with a tight two-set win over Ekaterina Alexandrova, sported the Nike white separates.
The racerback tank with print details and the pleated skirt work on paper. It was however the all-white colour palette that completely washed out the look. Under the bright Aussie sun, the white was just a distraction to look at and none of the actual details on the tank top came through.
The skirt's pleats could only do so much when the entire look just seemed ill-fitted for the Australian Open. It may have worked as a Wimbledon kit with some modifications but not Down Under.
Most outfits from this year's Australian Open have evoked strong reactions, be it negative or positive. This look, however, felt so bland that it might as well be confused for a practice outfit. It may as well go down as the most forgettable from this year's tournament.
#1 Best: Peyton Stearns
Wilson has been hitting the ball out of the park ever since its entry into the tennis world. Marta Kostyuk has been the brand's main face but the likes of Peyton Stearns are also beginning to carve a niche for themselves.
The American has to be one of the best-dressed athletes at this year's Australian Open, donning the white and red crop top and A-line skirt combination from her sponsor's latest collection.
The bright red skirt is the perfect choice for Melbourne as it shines through in the backdrop of the blue courts. The white crop top too is uplifted with the red detailing and unique neckline.
It is even more unfortunate that Stearns' stay at the Australian Open was shortlived as she exited the Slam after going down against compatriot Emma Navarro in three sets.
