Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Yannick Hanfmann preview
After a first-round bye, third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime will lock horns with Yannick Hanfmann in the second round of the Swiss Open 2024.
Auger-Aliassime started the season with a third-round showing at the Australian Open and then made the last four in Montpellier. He didn't win back-to-back matches for over two months after that until he reached the quarterfinals in Munich.
Auger-Aliassime then reached the biggest final of his career at the Madrid Open. However, he benefited from the retirements of two of his opponents and a walkover from Jannik Sinner. He faced Andrey Rublev in the final, losing the match in three sets.
The Canadian then bowed out of the Italian Open in the third round and went a round further at the French Open. The grass swing proved disappointing for him as he didn't win a match on the surface and was knocked out in the first round of Wimbledon.
Hanfmann, meanwhile, was up against lucky loser Nicolas Moreno de Alboran in the first round here. The first set went his way after he gained the upper hand in the tie-break.
The second set slipped out of Hanfmann's grasp as he came up short in the tie-break. The German snagged the only service break of the match in the third set and held on to the advantage until the end to register a 7-6 (2), 6-7 (2), 6-4 victory.

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Yannick Hanfmann prediction
Hanfmann earned a hard-fought win over Moreno de Alboran to begin his campaign in Gstaad and snap his three-match losing skid. He didn't lose his serve even once and won 86 percent of his first serve points.
Auger-Aliassime has blown hot and cold this year. After some rough results, it looked like he was back on the right track towards the end of the clay season. However, he performed quite poorly on grass, and now that the action has moved on to clay once again, he will be aiming for a reversal of fortunes.
Hanfmann hasn't set the tour on fire with his results either. He has won back-to-back matches on two occasions this year and hasn't done the same since March. He's still a threat on clay as six of his eight wins over top-20 players have come on the red dirt. Nevertheless, looking at their performances this season, Auger-Aliassime has the edge in this match-up.
Pick: Felix Auger-Aliassime to win in three sets.
