Magdalena Frech vs Olivia Gadecki prediction
Magdalena Frech and Olivia Gadecki enter the contest in excellent form, both vying for their first WTA title.
Frech has been in top shape all week in Guadalajara, dropping only one set in a total of nine. She has been solid on serve and has effectively used her net play to her advantage. Her unforced errors have been minimal which has translated into her playing the bigger points better.
Gadecki, meanwhile, has also been playing some of her best tennis this week and has been fearless in her approach so far. Her return game has been outstanding, with her converting approximately 60% of her break-point opportunities. She has also been strong on serve, especially on the second serve.
Frech enters the contest as a slight favorite given her vast experience and superior match record on tour this season. She's also played one WTA final this year already as opposed to Gadecki who will be contesting in her first-ever final. The Australian, however, has caused a couple of upsets already this week and is quite capable of causing another.
The winner could ultimately boil down to who holds their nerve better in the crucial moments and creates early inroads on the return. Coming to the net will be crucial to keep the points short in what will very likely be a tightly contested affair.
Pick: Gadecki in three sets.
