Holger Rune vs Fabian Marozsan preview
Second seed Holger Rune will square off against World No. 45 Fabian Marozsan in the first round of the Hamburg European Open on Tuesday, July 16.
Rune has performed quite well throughout the season, aside from a handful of early exits. While he was knocked out in the second round of the Australian Open, he made the fourth round of the French Open and Wimbledon.
The Dane reached two quarterfinals at the Masters level, at Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo. He has contested only one final this year, which was at the start of the season in Brisbane, and lost to Grigor Dimitrov in two competitive sets. He also made it to the semifinals in Acapulco, Montpellier, and Munich.
Marozsan had some strong results at the start of the season but has struggled in recent months. He reached the third round of the Australian Open, the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters, and the quarterfinals of the Miami Open.
Marozsan's results took a nosedive on natural surfaces and won three matches on clay, and only one on grass. He lost to Dimitrov in the second round of the French Open, and more recently was shown the door by Jan-Lennard Struff in the first round of Wimbledon.

Holger Rune vs Fabian Marozsan prediction
Rune has been a tad bit inconsistent compared to last season and consequently has dropped out of the top 10 of the ATP rankings. He lost to eventual finalist Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon last week. He was knocked out by Alexander Zverev in his previous claycourt tournament, the French Open.
Marozsan is currently on a three-match losing streak after a disappointing grass swing. He went 3-5 on clay before that, though Rune has thrice as many wins as him on the surface this season while having the same number of losses.
Rune and Marozsan crossed paths in Miami earlier this year, and the latter cruised to an easy win, dropping only two games during the match. The Dane won 40 percent of his first serve points back then, which proved to be his undoing.
However, Marozsan's form has taken a hit since then. Rune has a pretty good record on clay, and his game holds up quite well on the surface compared to his older rival. The young Dane should be able to make a winning start to his campaign in Hamburg.
Pick: Holger Rune to win in straight sets.
