Holger Rune vs Yasutaka Uchiyama preview
Top seed Holger Rune will take on Yasutaka Uchiyama in the second round of the Hangzhou Open.
Rune has had a hot and cold season so far, garnering 33 wins in 51 matches, including a runner-up finish in the Brisbane International. He also reached the semifinals of the Montpellier Open, Mexican Open, Munich Open and Cincinnati Open, where he lost to Frances Tiafoe in a three-set bout.
The Dane will enter Hangzhou on the back of a disappointing first-round exit in New York. He was expected to make a deep run in the US Open this year but was stunned by Brandon Nakashima in the opening round. The American defeated Rune, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4.
Meanwhile, Yasutaka Uchiyama has played most of his tennis on the ATP Challenger circuit this year. He came close to qualifying for the French Open and Wimbledon, but couldn't hurdle past the qualification rounds.
The Japanese entered Hangzhou on the back of a title-winning run in the Zhangjiagang Challenger. He outfoxed the likes of Maxime Cressy and Mitchell Krueger in the qualifiers and then brushed aside James Mccabe in the first round, 6-4, 6-4.

Holger Rune vs Yasutaka Uchiyama prediction
Holger Rune is still chasing his first title of the season. He has been struggling to unlock his best potential on tour but has been working towards finding the solution. The Dane will be eager to make amends for his early loss in New York and kick-start his Asian swing with a title.
Uchiyama, on the contrary, is unbeaten in his last eight matches. He dispatched former World No. 31 Maxime Cressy in the qualification rounds and is yet to drop a set in the Hangzhou Open. The Japanese is an experienced campaigner with a steady all-around game on the court.
Rune will need to bring his A-game to the fore against Uchiyama in the second round. His fluent all-around game and decision-making skills will be put to test by the in-form Uchiyama. The Dane should be able to settle in quickly and make a positive start in the Hangzhou Open.
Pick: Rune to win in three sets.
