Holger Rune, a tennis player from Denmark, was born on April 29, 2003. He is ranked No. 16 in singles by the ATP as of July 2024. He achieved his career-high ranking of World No. 4 in August 2023 and became the highest-ranked Danish player in the history of the ATP. He has four ATP singles titles to his name, including the 2022 Paris Masters. His best Grand Slam performance came at the 2022 French Open, where he reached the quarterfinals. He also reached the quarterfinals at the 2023 French Open and Wimbledon. He won his first ATP title at the 2022 Bavarian International Tennis Championships, which propelled him into the top 50. He won the Paris Masters later in 2022, breaking into the top 10 for the first time. He also set a record by defeating five top-10 players in the same event outside of the ATP Finals.

Rune registered his 100th win at the 2024 Open Sud de France, defeating Pablo Llamas Ruiz in round 16. With the win, he became the second Danish player in the Open Era after Kenneth Carlsen to achieve such a milestone. He reached the semifinals of the Open Sud de France title, where he lost to Borna Coric. He saved two match points against Grigor Dimitrov. In the quarterfinal, he lost to Jannik Sinner. He reached the semifinals of the 2024 Bavarian International, where he lost to Jan-Lennard Struff. He finished quarterfinalist at the 2024 Indian Wells Masters, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev.
