Second seed Katie Boulter will take on Anastasia Zakharova in the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Open on Saturday.
After a second round exit in the Australian Open, Boulter raised her level by clinching titles in the San Diego Open and the Nottingham Classic. She also reached the semifinals of the Japan Women's Open, where she lost to Sofia Kenin in straight sets.
The Brit started her campaign in Hong Kong with hard fought wins over Aoi Ito and Wang Xiyu in the first two rounds. She overpowered the Chinese Xiyu 7-6(7), 6-4. Boulter is yet to drop a set in the Hong Kong Open.

Anastasia Zakharova, meanwhile, is slowly finding her feet on the main tour. She reached the third round of the Australian Open, which was her best result this year. After solid wins over Yulia Putintseva and Kaja Juvan in the first two rounds, she was eliminated by Magdalena Frech in Melbourne.
The Russian started her campaign in Hong Kong with a convincing win over Su Jeong Jang. She then outmuscled Varvara Gracheva 6-3, 6-1 in the second. Zakharova is through to the quarterfinals on the main tour for the first time in her career.

Katie Boulter will fancy her third title of the season in the Hong Kong Open. With none of the top 10 players present in the last eight, she has a great chance to making the difference. The Brit won 79% of her first serve points in the last match and saved seven break points against Xiyu.
Zakharova, on the other hand, is an exciting young talent on the main tour. Apart from a third round finish in Melboure, she also picked up ITF titles in Figueira da Foz, Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and Les Franqueses del Valles (Barcelona). The Russian will have nothing to lose against Boulter and hope to give the Brit a run for her money in the last eight.
Considering their results this year and experience at the highest level, Boulter will be a clear favorite to come out on top. The Brit should be able to absorb the early pressure and execute her versatile all-around game in the quarterfinals.
Pick: Boulter to win in straight-sets.
